How Do I Restore the Default VLAN Configuration of an Huawei Switch Interface?

Huawei Switch default VLAN configuration of an Huawei Campus Switch interface involves the default VLAN of the interface
and the VLAN that the interface joins. By default, the default VLAN configuration of an
interface is as follows:

Access: The default VLAN is VLAN 1, and an access interface joins VLAN 1 in
untagged mode.

Trunk: The default VLAN is VLAN 1, and a trunk interface joins VLAN 1 to VLAN
4094 in tagged mode. That is, a trunk interface allows all VLANs.

Hybrid: The default VLAN is VLAN 1, and a hybrid interface joins VLAN 1 in
untagged mode.

Dot1q-tunnel: The default VLAN is VLAN 1, and an dot1q-tunnel interface joins
VLAN .1

Negotiation-auto or Negotiation-desirable: If the interface is negotiated as an access
interface, the default VLAN configuration of the interface is the same as that of the
access interface. If the interface is negotiated as a trunk interface, the default VLAN is
VLAN 1 and the interface joins VLANs 1 to 4094 in tagged mode. That is, the interface
allows all VLANs.

Run the display this include-default | include link-type command in the interface view to
check the link type of the interface, and then perform one of the following configurations to
restore the default configuration of the interface.

How to Route Optical Fibers (PON Board)?

When you firstly buy Huawei MA5800, do you know how to Route Optical Fibers on Huawei GPON service board?

What Is a Rogue ONT and How to Prevent Such an ONT?

If an ONT HG8310M for example transmits optical signals to upstream at a timestamp that is not assigned to it, it is called a continuous-mode ONT. Such an ONT is also call the rogue ONT, which transmits optical signals at any time. When a rogue ONT exists,
  • If the rogue ONT is online, one or all of the other ONTs connected to the same PON port on the OLT go offline or go online and offline frequently.
  • If the rogue ONT is not configured, the other ONTs that are not configured will fail to be automatically discovered.
Enable rogue ONT detection on Huawei GPON OLT. A rogue ONT will be isolated after being detected.

Huawei MA5800 Troubleshooting Cases

TC-C6050 Multicast Forwarding Mode Incorrect Due to Multicast Service Fault

This topic describes how to troubleshoot the fault multicast forwarding mode incorrect due to multicast service unavailable.

Fault Type

Multicast service

Keyword

Multicast unavailable

Fault Description

When the user VLAN is the same as the multicast VLAN, the multicast service is normal; however, when the user VLAN is different from the multicast VLAN, the multicast service is unavailable, but the multicast subscribers are online.

Cause Analysis

  • The data configuration is incorrect, because the unicast service is normal but the multicast service is unavailable.
  • The setting of the VLC software is incorrect.
  • The join packet fails to reach the multicast server, or the server does not respond normally.
  • Certain security functions are enabled. As a result, the packets are intercepted.

Procedure

  1. The multicast service is normal when the user VLAN is the same as the multicast VLAN. Therefore, it can be determined that the device can implement the multicast service. In addition, the multicast subscribers are online when the multicast service is normal. Therefore, the multicast service of the device is normal.
  2. Modify the user VLAN, and modify the multicast configuration data accordingly. It is found that the multicast subscribers are online, but the multicast program is not available on the PC that functions as the multicast client. Then, modify the user VLAN to be the same as the multicast VLAN. The multicast service returns to the normal state. Therefore, it can be determined that the setting of the VLC software is correct.
  3. Capture packets on the PC that functions as the multicast client. It is found that no multicast packet is received. Then, capture packets on the PC that functions as the multicast server. It is found that the multicast packets are transmitted from the server.
  4. Based on the preceding two situations, it can be determined that the multicast media packets are discarded on the way from Huawei MA5800 to the ONU HG8546M. Then, mirror the PON port and capture packets. It is found that the media packets are issued. Therefore, the media packets are discarded on the ONU side.
  5. It is known that the protocol packets and the media packets are transmitted through different channels, that is, through different GEM ports. For ONU that does not have the VLAN conversion function, the media packets still carry the multicast VLAN tag when reaching the user port, and therefore the user port discards the data packets whose VLAN is different from the native VLAN of the user port on the ONU. Therefore, the PC (multicast client) cannot receive the multicast media packets, which causes the failure of the multicast service.
  6. Run the ont multicast-forword tag translation command to modify the multicast forwarding mode of the ONU to translation. The multicast service returns to the normal state.

Suggestion and Summary

For ONU that does not have the VLAN conversion function, the multicast service is implemented on the ONU in the following three ways:
  • The user VLANs and the multicast VLAN are the same (not recommended when the broadcast domain is large because of the large number of subscribers).
  • All user VLANs are the same, but are different from the multicast VLAN. In this case, the multicast service is implemented by setting the multicast forwarding mode.
  • A switch is connected to the ONU to remove or convert the VLAN tag. With the capability of the switch, the multicast service can be implemented for multiple subscribers and multiple VLANs concurrently.

Do You know Huawei OTN Line Board NQ2 has some restrictions on the line mode?

For Huawei OptiX OSN 6800:

If the TN12XCS board is used, TN52NQ2 or TN53NQ2 board supports a service capacity of 40 Gbit/s when it is installed in slot 1, 4, 11, or 14; only optical ports IN1/OUT1 and IN2/OUT2 of the NQ2 board are available and therefore the board supports a service capacity of 20 Gbit/s when it is installed in any of the other slots.
If the TN11XCS board is used, only optical ports IN1/OUT1 and IN2/OUT2 of the NQ2 board are available and therefore the board supports a service capacity of 20 Gbit/s regardless of which slot the board is installed.

For Huawei OptiX OSN 8800: The NQ2 board supports a maximum service capacity of 40 Gbit/s in any slot.

What Are the Precautions for Deploying Multicast VLAN Replication on a Ring Network?

A multicast VLAN is the user VLAN of itself by default, so you do not need to run the
multicast user-vlan command.

When configuring multicast VLAN replication on the S1720GFR, S2700, S5700S-LI (except
S5700S-28X-LI-AC and S5700S-52X-LI-AC), or Huawei S5700-LI, pay attention to the following
constraints:

A user-side interface can be added to only one user VLAN. If the interface is added to
multiple user VLANs, the user VLAN where multicast entries are generated first takes
effect.
The user-side interface also needs to be added to the multicast VLAN in the same mode
as it is added to the user VLAN. For example, if the user-side interface is added to the
user VLAN in untagged mode, it must be added to the multicast VLAN in untagged
mode.
To prevent the broadcast of unknown multicast packets, enable the switch to drop unknown
multicast packets. On the S2700SI or S2700EI, run the multicast drop-unknown in the
system view to enable this function. On the S1720, S2720, Huawei S5720-LI, S5720S-LI,
S5700S-LI or S5700LI, run the multicast drop-unknown in the VLAN view to enable
this function.
